Can We Talk?

As the President of NAFM for the last five years, I have seen this organization have many ups and downs, mainly because of the many different financial, spiritual, and personal issues of the members and the board itself. We have had many attacks on our families personally, as many of you have who call Family Ministry a calling and profession. I hear from many of you who struggle within your churches to maintain a healthy view of the family and the church, and in the midst of these battles, we search for the answers to the overwhelming task before us.

I am excited to announce a partnership that has formed between NAFM and the Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University. Ken Canfield has been a major supporter of NAFM and especially Family Ministry in the local churches, and comes to us with an incredible vision of what NAFM can do to encourage, educate and expand the network of Family Ministry. We will work together to create an incredible line-up of speakers and workshop leaders at the Family of Faith conference each year, and you (and the lay people you work with) will be able to sit with the major players in the family ministry arena!

We are still in the process of creating what this new entity will look like, but I am excited about the possibilities for all of us in the trenches. We will be able to have a “one stop shop” where we can meet together and discuss what is going on in our ministries, and in a beautiful location for rest and relaxation! Be sure and look at the link for this years conference which will be June 10-12 on the Malibu campus. You will be incredibly impressed with everything that is being offered, and will immediately see the blessing for your church!
